Prepare Dangerous Goods for Transport Safely – NSW Compliance Training

Preparing Dangerous Goods for transport is one of the most critical responsibilities in the supply chain. Errors at this stage — whether in classification, packaging, labelling, or documentation — can lead to serious safety risks, rejected shipments, regulatory breaches, and costly delays.

The Prepare for Transport of Dangerous Goods Course is designed to ensure individuals and businesses in New South Wales understand how to correctly prepare hazardous materials for safe and compliant transport.

At Kells Safety Centre, this course focuses on practical, real-world training. Participants gain the skills and knowledge needed to confidently prepare Dangerous Goods in line with the Australian Dangerous Goods (ADG) Code and NSW regulatory requirements.

What Does “Prepare for Transport of Dangerous Goods” Mean?

Preparing Dangerous Goods involves a structured process that ensures hazardous materials are safe to be transported by road, rail, or other methods.

This includes:

  • Correct classification of substances
  • Selecting compliant packaging
  • Applying accurate labels and hazard markings
  • Completing required transport documentation
  • Ensuring safe loading and segregation

Each step is essential to prevent incidents and ensure legal compliance.

Why Proper Preparation Is Critical

Dangerous Goods that are incorrectly prepared can create serious risks across the entire transport chain. These risks include:

  • Chemical leaks or spills during transport
  • Fire or explosion hazards
  • Exposure risks to drivers and workers
  • Rejected shipments and delays
  • Fines and legal penalties under WHS and transport laws

Proper training ensures these risks are minimised and compliance is maintained.

  • Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations

Under these laws, responsibility is shared across the supply chain, meaning both individuals and businesses can be held accountable for non-compliance.

The Chain of Responsibility ensures that everyone involved in the transport process shares legal responsibility for safety.
